Stamford Senior Center Honors National Senior Center Month

This September, the Stamford Senior Center will celebrate National Senior Center Month with fun and innovative programs for older adults that will deliver unique opportunities for creativity and growth.

Special events will include a Mini Golf tournament on September 14th and an inspiring lecture on “HOW TO LIVE TO BE 100” on September 6th with Dr. Edward Schuster who will discuss ways to stay heart healthy and prevent disease. A special luncheon will take place on September 8 with a visit from Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons.

“From Mindfulness Meditation workshops to Pilates classes to musical performances, the Stamford Senior Center is a community hub where older adults find friendship, meaning, and purpose,” said Executive Director Christina Crain. “Each day we provide opportunities for connection as well as practical tools and resources to help people stay healthy and independent.”

Across the country, senior centers connect over 1 million older adults to vital community services. As a nonprofit organization, the Stamford Senior Center has served the Greater Stamford region for over 27 years.

“Senior centers have evolved to provide online fitness classes, travel and so much more. Senior Center Month emphasizes the tremendous benefits senior centers deliver, including programming that empowers older adults to holistically age well and strengthen mind, body, spirit, and community connections,” said Crain.
