“Beautiful, The Carole King Musical”

The first mainstage musical of the season is the story of the early life and career of Carole King, bringing you dozens of hit songs of the 1960s and 1970s. For six years, “Beautiful” thrilled Broadway audiences with the inspiring true story of one woman’s remarkable journey from teenage songwriter to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Running on weekends through October 14th.

Stand Together Against Racism (S.T.A.R.) and the New England Academy of Dance (NEAD) collaborate on this special event that includes the documentary screening of “Flower”; a dance premiere by New England Academy of Dance, created and choreographed by Ted Thomas to reflect the themes of Misty’s film; and a Q & A featuring Christina Johnson, Dance Theatre of Harlem and Complexions principal dancer who plays the role of Misty’s mother on the film.

RGOA 46th Annual Juried Exhibition Opening Reception

Now in its 46th year, this is the premier RGOA event of the year and it features several CAFC member artists. Carey Mack Weber, Executive Director of the Fairfield University Art Museum, is this year’s juror. She has over 25 years of experience working in museums and galleries and has spent over a decade working in fine art galleries in New York City, notably serving as Director of Susan Sheehan Gallery and Edward Tyler Nahem Fine Art.

This unique collaborative exhibit between local leading interior designers and the artists of Metro Art Studios is a fundraiser for the Center for Family Justice. This is the second live performance installment of a year-long traveling exhibition called ‘the Aldrich Box.’ This solo musical performance by musician, composer, and collaborator Laura Ortman (White Mountain Apache) is described as  “…slow-motion grittiness in scored / improvised compositions for amplified violin, Apache violin, whistles, tree branches, slides, guitar picks, bells, field recordings, and tuning fork.”

Norwalk Symphony’s Opening Concert “American Masterpieces”

It’s the opening performance of Norwalk Symphony’s new season! On the program are Bela Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and Duke Ellington's Harlem as well as Grammy nominated soprano Laura Strickling.

This special installment of the ever-popular cabaret night is co-chaired by Marilyn and Mykl Macri and hosted by Pamme Jones, with fabulous accompaniment by Rodney Loren. An unscripted evening that brings the Manhattan cabaret scene to Ridgefield with favorite RTB performers and friends who will entertain and encourage the audience to get up, sing, and show everyone what they’ve got.

Sunday Concert Series: Alex Beyer, pianist/pilot

Saugatuck Congregational Church

Sunday, Sept 24, 3:00 - 4:30 pm

A wonderful opportunity on a Sunday afternoon! This concert will feature works by Mendelssohn, Schubert, Chopin, Bartok, and Prokofiev. A native of Southport, Beyer is an internationally accomplished artist, having performed as guest soloist with symphonies and orchestras across Europe and North America. In 2016, he received Third Prize in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. In 2018, he joined the US Navy and is currently stationed in Norwalk as a pilot with VAW-121, the “Bluetails.”
