Charter Communications Awards $7,500 to New Covenant Center

Charter announced a donation of $7,500 to New Covenant Center to support its food distribution program in partnership with Catholic Charities of Fairfield County through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.

The funds will impact the Center’s soup kitchen, the largest provider of food and nutrition to those in need in lower Fairfield County.

Charter will be making a check presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 11:45 a.m., to commemorate the donation at the Charter Communications headquarters at 400 Washington Blvd. in Stamford. Additionally, employees from Network Operations will be assembling 200 personal hygiene kits as part of the donation.

“New Covenant Center provides equitable access to healthy food in both our daily Soup Kitchen/Café and our 3x per week Food Pantry,” said John Gutman, Executive Director of New Covenant Center. “We are very appreciative of the donation by Spectrum employees, this helps our guests and clients, not only with the basic utility of nutritious food, but with other crucial social services to assist them in finding paths toward a better life.”

“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Rahman Khan, Group Vice President of Community Impact for Charter Communications, Inc. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”

Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided funding to nearly 440 local nonprofits in 33 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019.

Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s more than 101,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
