American Family Care® Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary in Stamford

American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of urgent care, accessible primary care, and occupational medicine, is celebrating 10 years of serving the Stamford area.

Since opening its doors at 3000 Summer St. in mid-June 2014, AFC Stamford has welcomed well over 100,000 patients while evolving to meet the changing needs of the community. A decade ago the business helped usher in a new medical service concept: urgent care, a fast, affordable alternative to the long wait times and high facility fees often encountered at hospital-affiliated clinics or emergency departments when patients seek help for non-life-threatening medical issues.

Unlike other urgent care clinics which rely extensively on virtual provider visits to deliver services, AFC Stamford’s physicians and other healthcare professionals are on-site during all hours of operation to give patients the highest level of care, in-person.

A valued community health resource

AFC is a trusted healthcare provider in the Stamford metro area. The center partners with Stamford Public Schools to ensure that students receive required back-to-school and sports physicals as well as vaccinations. AFC provides workers’ compensation services for Stamford police, firefighters and teachers. For businesses, private schools and other government groups, the clinic offers occupational medicine including Connecticut DOT physicals, other pre-employment physicals, drug screens and vaccinations for new hires and current employees.

Although AFC Stamford serves residents of all ages, urgent care has become an important health resource for the city’s growing population of college students and young professionals. They may be new to the area and lack a primary care physician. The center has attracted a dedicated base of these patients, who value convenient, quality medical care with a fast turnaround time at lower cost.

Meeting the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19

During the pandemic, AFC pivoted to become an essential resource for residents urgently seeking coronavirus testing. The center saw up to 120 patients a day. A mobile COVID testing team conducted tests for assisted living and memory care facilities. AFC also provided patients with a telehealth option to maintain their access to necessary healthcare while reducing potential virus transmission. After the World Health Organization declared the end of the pandemic phase of COVID‐19 in May 2023, the clinic refocused operations to again offer its full range of accessible primary care services in-person.

“I am very proud of our 10 years of service to the greater Stamford community,” said AFC Stamford independent owner and operator Brad Radulovacki. “Patients are our utmost priority, and responding to their evolving needs has been the key to our success. We are excited about the future. Soon we will enhance the urgent care experience through innovative technology and new services while maintaining our personal patient connections and the trust we have earned over the past decade.”
