Edgehill Residents Raise $70,000 for Stamford Health’s Hope in Motion Walk

Residents of Edgehill, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Stamford, Conn., are marking ten years of support for Stamford Health’s Hope in Motion Walk by raising a record-setting $70,000. More than one hundred individuals and businesses have donated to the team. Money raised from the June 9th walk supports the needs of patients at Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center, from comfort services like massage to practical items like transportation, babysitting costs, emergency loans, and meals.

“Knowing these funds directly support the patients who need them most makes it incredibly easy and worthwhile to give,” said Team Captain Joan Weisman. “We could not do this without the support of our neighbors, community businesses, and the administration here at Edgehill. Everyone feels good giving to the cause, which is how we’re able to do it year after year.”

This year’s effort shattered Team Edgehill’s $40,000 goal and surpassed last year’s $60,000 results. Residents organized a signature event featuring a local piano player and an auction with items from more than sixty local vendors. The evening, led by team member Nancy Stillerman, brought in $12,000. Twenty Edgehill residents, associates, and their family members will walk on Sunday at Mill River Park in Stamford. Since assembling their first team ten years ago, Edgehill has raised $350,000 for the Bennett Cancer Center.

“The energy and enthusiasm that residents bring to this effort are impressive,” said Campus Assistant Executive Director and Team Co-captain Julia Hannan. “The Hope in Motion Walk has really become a tradition for Edgehill. It’s something we look forward to each year, especially knowing we’re making a difference for cancer patients and their families in Greater Stamford.”
