- New Police Recruits: Congratulations to the newest class of Stamford Police Academy recruits! We’re proud to welcome 18 new recruits who make up the second class to train right here in Stamford, thanks to our dedicated training officers and instructors. We look forward to seeing their dedication in action as they begin their journey in service to our community.
- The Stamford Tech Hub: We recently launched an initiative created through a public-private partnership to deliver free, hands-on tech training for Stamford residents of all backgrounds and experience levels. Whether you're just starting out or looking to upskill, the Tech Hub connects you to in-demand careers in software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, and more. - May Arts & Culture Guide: The City of Stamford and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission are excited to announce, “Stamford Spotlight: A Celebration of Arts and Culture.” This guide highlights upcoming arts and cultural events in Stamford. - Branching Out: Branching Out Tree Initiative” is the City of Stamford’s new street tree planting program. The goal of the program is to plant hundreds of trees in the neighborhoods that lack them the most, including the West Side, Waterside, Downtown, South End, Cove, and East Side neighborhoods. The city has already identified potential tree planting spots (see our map), and invite residents or businesses who live or own a business near these spots to request a tree. https://www.stamfordrecreation.com/branching-out-tree-initiative
- Lathon Wider Community Center: On the morning of Thursday, January 2, the City Facilities Department was notified of a flooding incident in the basement of the Lathon Wider Community Center (137 Henry Street) caused by a failure in a piece of mechanical equipment. The target date for reopening the building is July 1, 2025. For any questions or urgent needs regarding the Health Department’s walk-in health services, please call (203)-977-5652.
- The Stamford Health Department Community Public Health Clinic, which was located in the Lathon Wider Center, has temporarily moved to 138 Stillwater Avenue - a former Optimus location. Convenient street parking is available.
