Stamford Mayor City Updates: Parade Spectacular, Daffodil Planting, and More

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • Daffodil Planting: This month, the City of Stamford, in partnership with Synchrony and the Stamford Parks Partnership, planted 10,000 daffodil bulbs at Columbus Park to enhance our community’s public spaces. We can’t wait to see these vibrant flowers in full bloom this spring!
  • Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular: It was fantastic to see so many of you at this weekend’s Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular! A heartfelt thank you to Stamford Downtown, as well as our dedicated Police, Fire, and EMS Departments, for organizing an incredible event and ensuring everything ran smoothly and safely.
  • StamFORWARD: Last week marked the exciting launch of StamFORWARD, Stamford’s first-ever micro transit service! This convenient, on-demand transportation option allows riders to easily request and schedule rides within designated service areas using a smartphone app or a phone call. Thank you to the Connecticut Department of Transportation for awarding Stamford this funding to be one of nine transit districts to pilot this two-year program. As an innovative pilot program, StamFORWARD is designed to improve connectivity, accessibility, and mobility across our city.
  • Residents can download the StamFORWARD app to start enjoying this convenient service. Even better, all rides are free through December 19th! After that date, fares are just $1.75 per ride, with an additional $0.85 for extra passengers. Seniors aged 62 and older, as well as ADA-eligible riders, can ride for only $0.85.   • Congratulations to Stamford Police Academy Class #013: This week, we celebrated the first graduating class from Stamford’s Police Academy. These officers have answered the call to serve and protect, becoming the next generation of law enforcement professionals. Thank you to Captain Noto, Lieutenant Novia, Sergeant Sheperis, Officer McGinn, and the Stamford Police Department for leading this milestone effort.

  • Stamford Transportation Center Info Session: The Stamford Arts & Culture Commission (SACC) has received a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant to create a mural at the new Stamford Transportation Center parking garage on North State Street. SACC is seeking artists to design and paint a mural showcasing Stamford’s landmarks and culture, including its parks, waterfront, beaches, and downtown scenes. Artists are invited to join the City of Stamford for an info session on Tuesday, December 3rd at 5:30 pm via Zoom to ask questions, and learn more about the project.   • November Arts & Culture Guide: The City of Stamford and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission are excited to announce, “Stamford Spotlight: A Celebration of Arts and Culture.” This guide highlights upcoming arts and cultural events in Stamford.   • Shop Local Fall Guide: We are excited to launch the City of Stamford's Fall Shop Local Guide!   • Parking Garage Demolition: The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has initiated the demolition of the Stamford Transportation Center's 1985 Parking Garage and Pedestrian Bridge. For further details, click here.
  • Stamford 2035: The City of Stamford is excited to launch the Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan, a once-in-a-decade opportunity to assess the city's current state and explore key questions about our future! This plan will guide Stamford’s development through 2035, focusing on crucial topics like sustainability, resilience, diversity, equity, inclusion, housing, economic growth, mobility, and infrastructure. Throughout the 10-month process, you’ll have the chance to share your vision for Stamford by participating in public meetings, workshops, surveys, and discussions with our planning team.
