Looking for a way to give back to your community and connect with others who also care about raising awareness for domestic violence in our area? If so, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) needs you! DVCC is seeking volunteers to join its Domestic Violence Awareness Month Committees in both Stamford and Norwalk. The committees will to help create and execute public awareness programs around Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October).
Committee members will organize and execute public outreach campaigns and events related to domestic violence awareness and prevention by using their creativity and tapping into their local resources and community connections. Interested volunteers do not have to have experience working with domestic violence victims; however, they should have a passion for the issue and be open to further educating themselves and others.
Are you a college student? Help plan a tabling event on campus. Do you attend a religious institution? Work with your faith leader to disseminate educational material on dv to your congregation. Are you part of a local PTA or other parent organization? Tap into that connection to bring prevention education programming to your school.
DVCC is here to support individuals on their journey to safety. DVCC advocates for individuals who are experiencing abuse in personal relationships. Our multiple services and professional staff help those experiencing any level of domestic violence and assist them in building a safer environment for the well-being of themselves and their families. All victim services are free and confidential, and all services offered are multicultural/multilingual. DVCC’s mission is to provide effective services, support and education for the prevention and elimination of domestic violence across the Connecticut communities of Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, Weston, Westport, Wilton and beyond.
