Mercury wins five awards from CT Press Club

STAMFORD, CT – Marketing Communications of Stamford has won a national award from the National Federation of Press Women and four Connecticut Press Club awards on behalf of the agency’s clients. Account Executive Katherine Bonamo and Senior Account Executive Tom Renner were recognized with five awards, including two first-place prizes.

Bonamo’s work won a first-place national award in the National Communications Contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women for an article that detailed the results of a technical study focused on sustainability for the marine industry on behalf of one of the agency’s clients.

Renner took first place in the “Information for the Media – Media Pitch” Connecticut Press Club category. His pitch on behalf of The BILCO Company highlighted a Colorado high school’s architectural remodeling of a new roof with four acoustical smoke vents, designed to mitigate exterior noise.

            “Katherine and Tom’s skill and creativity as writers is a distinguishing aspect of our public relations team,” said Mercury President Melissa LoParco. “They know how to grab the attention of readers and assist any editor, which results in great coverage for our clients.”

            Additionally, Bonamo won two third-place awards in different Connecticut Press Club categories. One was a “Specialty Article” published in Building Enclosure on behalf of Bendheimin the “Hobby” category, and the other was a collaborative article with Tom Renner published in The Robot Report on behalf of igus in the “Science & Technology” category. Renner also won a third-place award in the “Green/Environmental” category with his article “Head Start” published in Civil Structural Engineer on behalf of The BILCO Company. He also received an honorable mention in “Science & Technology” for a project with GF Piping Systems.

The 2023 National Communications Contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women honors outstanding communications entries in the United States, where almost 1,800 submissions were submitted in this year’s contest. Winners originally competed in state-wide contests where first-place winners would advance to the national contest.

The CT Press Club competition includes over 60 categories and work was judged by professionals with corresponding expertise. The competition was open to anyone who lives or works in Connecticut and work had to have been published between January 1 and December 31, 2022.
