New Covenant Center 15th Annual Celebrity Breakfast at the Woodway Country Club on April 24

New Covenant Center will hold its 15th Annual Celebrity Breakfast at the Woodway Country Club, Darien, CT on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 7:00 to 9:00 AM.

All proceeds from Celebrity Breakfast will benefit New Covenant Center, whose mission is to provide basic living items and services combined with longer-term solutions that focus on self-sufficiency to those in need. New Covenant Center is celebrating its 40th Anniversary of the original soup kitchen which has since grown to a comprehensive center, hosting a job skills program through its partner Building One Community, and offering life coaching and human services like showers and haircuts. New Covenant Center serves hot meals twice a day, 365 days a year, providing 600,000 meals a year, including a breakfast program. The facility includes an efficient and modern kitchen, a welcoming dining area, expanded food storage and refrigeration, and a spacious food pantry.

This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Bobby Valentine, Executive Director of Athletics at Sacred Heart University. A native of Stamford, and a talented athlete, Sport Illustrated voted him one of the best athletes from Connecticut in the 20th century. Mr. Valentine made his MLB debut September 2, 1969, versus the New York Mets, a club he would go on to manage. Mr. Valentine has a long list of athletic accomplishments from the Mets, to the Texas Rangers, to the Boston Red Sox to the Chiba Lotte Marines in the Pacific League of Japan. He has also achieved successful careers in both broadcast and business – including businesses in Stamford.  With all his successes, Bobby Valentine has not forgotten to reach out to the community and provide philanthropic support in numerous ways.

At the Celebrity Breakfast, The Founder’s Award will honor Laure Aubuchon & Paul Harinstein. Ms. Aubuchon has been a member of New Covenant Center’s Advisory Council for seven years and was instrumental in raising the funds needed for New Covenant to move into its new facility in June, 2015.  Mr. Harinstein has been a member of the Council for 12 years, in which he was the Chairman during the crucial move to the Center’s new location.

Ms. Aubuchon and Mr. Harinstein are strong believers in getting involved and giving back to the communities in which they work and live, which is why New Covenant Center will honor them.
