Stamford Public Schools to Host Public Information Session on Safety & Security Protocols Tuesday

The recent tragedy in Florida and others like it across the country impact us all. While collectively our hearts are saddened, at the same time, our resolve to prevent this type of violence from recurring is strengthened.

The safety and security of Stamford Public Schools’ (SPS) children continues to be a top priority for the city and the district. While, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee we will never be subjected to the kind of violence other communities have suffered, we would like to reassure our community that as a city and a school district we are continually assessing our protocols and procedures and strengthening them along the way.

In an effort to provide our families with some general information about our security initiatives, you are invited to a public information session on Tuesday, March 6, at 6:00 p.m., at Westhill High School Auditorium. Stamford Mayor David Martin, SPS Superintendent Earl Kim, SPS Director of Safety and Security John Perrotta, and Stamford Police Chief Jon Fontneau and his staff will address concerns and give an overview of policies and procedures already in place. Please understand that sharing specific tactics could compromise the very safety we are trying to ensure, so we may not comment on all aspects of our security activities and plans.
