Stamford Art Association Call for "Artistic Celebration of Motherhood"

"Artistic Celebration of Motherhood" May 1-May 31, 2021, Entry Deadline: Monday, March 29, 2021

Opening: May 1-30, 2021 4pm on Zoom

The Stamford Art Association (SAA) and The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists (CSOPA) have partnered to create a special event paying tribute to mothers.

The online exhibition, Artistic Celebration of Motherhood, is a multi-media event featuring original art ranging from classic portraiture to abstract expressionism. Each of the sponsors will exhibit a display of their artwork with a link to the other organization's artwork. This is a multimedia juried exhibit with cash prizes.

SAA is asking artists to submit 1-5 pieces of artwork on the theme of Motherhood. If you are entering with a painting, drawing or sculpture of classic representational portraits, you must enter through the CSOPA website, here.

 All other artwork should be entered through SAA. There will be a Zoom opening on May 1 at 4:00 pm. A select number of pieces will be shown in a pop-up show in downtown Stamford: if you wish to be considered for the pop-up your work must not exceed 36x24 framed and must be wired for hanging. No size restrictions for the virtual show.

Categories: For CSOPA original drawing, painting and sculptural media only of representational portraits. For SAA Painting, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Photography, Drawing, Printmaking in any style except representational portraits

Criteria: Artists should submit original work that has not been shown before at the SAA gallery or SAA sponsored exhibitions (except for the Faber Birren show.) Except for photographs, prints of any kind (lithographs, etchings, computer generated art etc) should be signed and numbered as a limited edition. Giclees will not be accepted
