Building One Community’s 6th Annual Colloquium

Building One Community —The Center for Immigrant Opportunity (B1C) is thrilled to host its 6th Annual Colloquium on September 9th at The Stamford Yacht Club.

This informative and enriching evening will feature three outstanding panelists to discuss immigration and its impact on immigrants in Fairfield County. We will discuss Immigration priorities, including what changes will have the most significant impact on Fairfield County. Our panel will also share personal stories.

Key Panel Participants:

  • Allen Orr, Jr. Founder of Orr Immigration Law Firm PC in DC, specializes in U.S. and global immigration. He is a speaker on emerging business immigration issues, a Sr. Editor of the Immigration and Nationality Law Handbook, and President of the AILA.

  • Douglas R. Penn, of Law Offices of Douglas R. Penn, LLC, practices Immigration and Naturalization Law. He frequently speaks at immigration law conferences at state and national levels.

  • Lucas Codognolla – At age nine, Mr. Codognolla and his family immigrated to the United States from Brazil. He is a recognized undocumented leader in the immigrant youth movement. Mr. Codognolla was Executive Director of CT Students for a Dream (C4D). Under his leadership, C4D won advocacy campaigns resulting in educational equity policy change at institutional and legislative levels.

When: Thursday, September 9th, beginning at 6:00 pm. Cocktails & Hors D’oevres followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
Where: The Stamford Yacht Club, 97 Ocean Drive West, Stamford CT
Cost: $125 per ticket

The mission of Building One Community is to advance the successful integration of immigrants and their families. Since its inception, the organization has served over 10,400 immigrants from 102 different countries. B1C provides free services that educate, employ, empower, and engage immigrants and the broader community. Programs offered include ELL (English Language) programs, family and individual support services, immigration legal services, and workforce development programs.
