The Greenwich Art Society presents: Intro to Drawing (Zoom class) for teens and adults with Riley Strom

9 MONDAYS Jan.10-March 21 (except Jan. 17, Feb. 21)

4:00 pm to 6:30 pm

This course offers an introduction to drawing, no prerequisites required! Students will learn about different drawing materials and surfaces. Through observational drawing we'll discuss fundamental techniques and practices of drawing such as perspective, value, form, light, surface, and texture. You will learn methods of contour drawing as well as how to apply traditional techniques of shading such as stippling and cross hatching and blending. This online course will involve technical instruction, studio work, and group discussion.

This class will be held on Zoom for the entire term.

Riley Strom is a painter originally from Los Angeles, CA currently working in Brooklyn, NY.

She earned her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence in 2013 where she studied painting and philosophy. She co-founded and ran the contemporary art gallery, 99 Cent Plus Gallery from 2013-2016 in Brooklyn, New York. She received an MFA in Painting from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 2020. Her paintings investigate the relationship between image and her lived experience by means of symbolism, figuration, and abstraction.
