The Palace Theatre Hosts Super Soul Party to Benefit People Experiencing Homelessness on Super Bowl Sunday, February 12

On Sunday, February 12, The Palace Theatre in Stamford will host a Super Soul Party to benefit people experiencing homelessness. Held annually on Super Bowl Sunday, Super Soul Party partners with homeless shelters, local food outlets, barbers and community activists to help educate the public about homelessness in an effort to bring about positive change.

The Palace’s Super Soul Party will provide a venue for building genuine connections between those with homes — and those without. It will be one of dozens of Super Soul Parties across the USA.

“It’s not about football,” said Super Soul Party founder Meir Kay. “This is about seeing the overlooked and engaging with the ignored. These are not mere Super Bowl parties that you are familiar with. This is about lifting the soul with camaraderie and dignity.”

Events will feature nourishing food, haircuts, clothing drives, resources for social and housing services, the big game and most importantly, human connection. Also available will be dignity bags with personal hygiene items and resources for those struggling with mental health issues and addiction.

A filmmaker and social media influencer with more than a billion views and millions of fans, Meir Kay was inspired to launch Super Soul Party when one freezing night he saw a man holding a cardboard sign reading: “I don’t want food. I don’t want a drink – I just want someone to talk with.”

Kay connected with this man by giving him attention, care, and a hot meal and it was that touch of humanity that we all sometimes need, Kay said. “My world changed, and I knew I needed to let my fellow humans who are experiencing homelessness to know that they are not alone, they are seen and to bring that awareness of the issue to local communities.”

What started as one party in New York in 2017 has now grown into dozens of events, with a target of 50 cities, throughout the country.

“After 96 years, we know that Stamford depends on us, just as we depend on Stamford,” said Michael Moran, The Palace Theatre's President and CEO. “As a nonprofit organization, we receive tremendous support from the community and firmly believe in giving back at every possible opportunity – helping our neighbors in need with friendship, caring and dignity.”

About Super Soul Party

Super Soul Party is dedicated to uniting communities and creating a safe space for people who are experiencing homelessness. We focus on the HOME and not the LESS by facilitating moments of connection between guests with homes and without, serving hot, nourishing food, giving warm clothing, offering haircuts and providing housing and social services at every event. While the fabric of society is busy being woven from communal connection during America’s most popular unofficial holiday (the Super Bowl), those without homes are sidelined for so many of the events which unite us as a society. Super Soul Party breaks barriers between some of the most unseen people as we come together to cheer for dignity and celebrate community.
