Small Car Company Annual Air-Cooled Charity Car Show on Sunday in Westport

Small Car Company Annual Air-Cooled Charity Car Show on Sunday, October 8, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Veterans Green, 110 Myrtle Ave. Westport, CT

Free family-friendly event

The Small Car Company club, established in Westport in 2013 by friends and neighbors Tom Truitt and David Abelow, connects enthusiasts with driving events, and fundraisers to benefit local charities and will host a fun-filled day starting at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 8th on Veterans’ Green in Westport, Connecticut.

“We are thrilled to be back in downtown Westport to celebrate our tenth anniversary for this special edition of our show that will feature dozens of vintage Porsches, Volkswagens, Corvairs and other rare and special air-cooled cars and motorcycles from all over the tri-state area,” according to David Abelow, co-founder. “The show is free to all spectators and is a family friendly.

The charitable beneficiaries for the show are two Fairfield County community organizations providing programs for recycled and re-built bikes donated for those in need:

Northeast Community Cycles provides bikes free of charge to underprivileged children and adults in Fairfield County. “The Small Car Company is proud to announce that earlier this year we have facilitated a partnership to house Northeast Community Cycles with Westport’s own Total Training and Endurance,” says Tom Truitt.

The Bikeport Co-op of Bridgeport is a community development “earn-a-bike” program where youth can earn bikes by attending bike safety and maintenance courses and performing volunteer hours with various local organizations. “Bikeport works to break the cycle of poverty and violence in low-income young people by teaching them about bikes and engaging them on a personal level. The program provides structured after school activities, by giving youth the chance to earn and own a valuable tool for alternative transportation while making a difference in their community,” said David Abelow.

For the second year, the club will host Connecticut-based students attending skilled trade auto-technology schools in their Mentors & MotorsTM program during the show. As a classroom within a car show, future techs further their education leading to awareness and career opportunities. “This program fosters engagement between the generations. Students meet and learn from experienced mentors from many sectors of the automotive industry ranging from historic restoration, modern production automotive repair, sales, design, and photography,” explains Tom Truitt.
