On Monday, December 9, members of Stamford EMS gathered together to help children and families in need through the Salvation Army’s Be An Angel Tree program. The organization purchased new clothing and toys to support ten Stamford families.
“We are happy to participate in this worthy holiday giving effort,” said Patricia Squires, Chief and CEO of Stamford EMS. “As a nonprofit ourselves, it’s one way we can give back to the community that has supported us for over 25 years.”
Participation in the program eliminates the cost of these gifts that would normally be part of the Salvation Army’s holiday expenses. This makes more funding available for emergency needs such as food, clothing, shelter, rental assistance, fuel assistance and more.
“We’re grateful for the help the community has given us, Stamford is very generous,” said Salvation Army Lieutenant Valerie Rivera. “We’re especially thankful for Stamford EMS. The gifts they supplied help low-income families and because of their efforts, kids will have a brighter Christmas this year.”
Stamford Emergency Medical Services Inc. is Connecticut’s only CAAS accredited EMS agency, responding to over 14,000 calls annually as a private, nonprofit organization.
