The Stamford Arts & Culture Commission is now taking grant applications for special art projects in Stamford.

COVID-19 Updates

  • Today — October 8 — Stamford has 3,700 confirmed cases and 80 probable cases. Last week — October 1 — Stamford had 3,634 confirmed cases and 82 probable cases.

VOTE for Stamford!

The City is asking residents to vote! Stamford’s Boxer Square project has been nominated for the Reader’s Choice Award from America’s Transportation Awards. The project with the most votes gets a $10,000 grant for a scholarship to give to a local resident.

  • To vote, click here. You can vote once every 24 hours and you are encouraged to vote multiple times! Voting ends October 25.
  • Optimus Healthcare will host a pop-up testing event on Friday, October 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue.

State

  • Governor Ned Lamont announced that he has signed legislation that increases accountability among Connecticut’s utility companies by implementing a performance-based incentive system that ensures their earnings and profits are tied to good performance and certain penalties can be enacted amid extensive service disruptions.
  • Governor Ned Lamont announced that his administration is dedicating $2.6 million of Connecticut’s Coronavirus Relief Funds to support the state’s public libraries as they continue to make health and safety improvements and offer more services to residents amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut Education Commissioner Miguel Cardona announced that the state is expanding the Educators Rising Academy curriculum in ten school districts across Connecticut, giving high school students access to a program that encourages students early on to consider careers in education and diversifies the pipelines to the state’s teacher workforce.
  • Governor Ned Lamont signed legislation that will provide municipal election officials with the option of having more time to begin the process of verifying absentee ballots that have been received for the upcoming general election.

Services & Schools

Stamford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero announced there will be no spectators permitted at athletic events or competitions.

Garbage and recycling will be picked up on a normal schedule on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12.

Administrative offices, Scale House, and Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, October 12 and reopen on Tuesday, October 13.
