Stamford Health and the City of Stamford Partner to Administer COVID-19 Vaccines to Community

Stamford Health and the City of Stamford formally announced a partnership to administer COVID-19 vaccines to the community.

In accordance with Governor Ned Lamont’s statewide plan, Stamford Health and the City of Stamford transitioned from Phase 1a to 1b on January 18, opening vaccination signups to additional priority groups.

Currently, the individuals included in Phase 1b are individuals from the general public over age 75, as well as other essential workers outlined by the state.

Vaccine

Residents who want to signup for a vaccination can do so through Stamford Health’s website here: http://stamfordhealth.org/covid19vaccine

If you require assistance by phone, please call Stamford Health’s assistance line at 203.276.7300, Monday through Friday, 9am to 4 pm. Please note this phoneline is receiving a high volume of calls. It is best for residents to register through Stamford Health’s website.

All residents who signed up through the City’s Vaccination Signup Google Form have had their information sent to Stamford Health and will be contacted by Stamford Health soon.

Employers in Stamford can now schedule vaccine appointments for themselves and their staff.

The State of Connecticut has provided a resource with more information on how to schedule an appointment through the online Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS).

  • VAMS will verify your registration and then follow up with important scheduling information.

Curbside Pickup Zones

Mayor David Martin announced the City of Stamford’s Transportation, Traffic, and Parking Bureau will convert select parking spaces near businesses into Curbside Pickup Zones to facilitate curbside pickup businesses rely on during the ongoing pandemic.

Each Curbside Pickup Zone will be identified by large visible flags advertising 10-minute curbside pickup.

Any businesses interesting in receiving a Curbside Pickup Zone can call the City’s Transportation, Traffic and Parking Bureau at 203.977.5466.

COVID-19 Updates

Today — January 21 — Stamford has 11,208 confirmed cases. Last week —January 14 — Stamford had 10,720 confirmed cases. These numbers suggest Stamford has had 488 new cases in the past week, roughly 70 new cases per day on average. The City of Stamford has compiled a visualization of data up to January 19.

Stamford’s Board of Representatives passed an ordinance earlier this month to establish a Special Trust Fund to provide for the preservation and rehabilitation of historic buildings, structures, landscapes, and places within the City. The fund shall be known as the Stamford Historic Preservation Trust Fund.

State

Governor Ned Lamont announced he is directing the Connecticut Department of Public Health to proceed through the remaining groups in Phase 1b with a tiered approach based on risk of adverse health outcomes from the virus. The tiered approach to Phase 1b will proceed as follows:

  • Scheduling now: Individuals over the age of 75
  • Scheduling next (likely early February): Individuals between the ages of 65 and 74
  • Scheduling soon (likely late February or early March): Frontline essential workers and individuals with underlying medical conditions who have an increased risk for severe illness

Governor Ned Lamont announced the State of Connecticut is awarding $5 million in funding to 10 towns and cities across the state under a competitive grant program administered by the Department of Transportation for projects that support improved mobility and accessibility, as well as pedestrian and bicycle safety.

The grants approved under this round include $600,000 to Stamford’s Lower Summer Street Promenade.

Governor Ned Lamont announced he has scheduled Tuesday, March 2, 2021 as the date to hold a special election to fill a vacancy for state senator in the 27th Senatorial District of the Connecticut General Assembly.

The seat, which consists of portions of Darien and Stamford, became vacant on January 5 following the resignation of State Senator Carlo Leone to serve as Senior Adviser to Department of Transportation Commissioner Joseph Giulietti.

  • Stamford Downtown is accepting proposals for its upcoming outdoor art exhibit, the Piano Project, Art in Public Places in Stamford Downtown.
  • The Piano Project is an interactive exhibit that will bring both art and music to the streets of Stamford Downtown. Artists, through a juried selection process, will paint and decorate upright pianos that will be on display all summer for the public to interact and play.
  • Application deadline is Friday, February 16, 2021.
