City of Stamford The Works: COVID Case Numbers and Vaccines, Road Paving, Municipal Meetings

City of Stamford is beginning the state mandated property reevaluation project starting this Monday, August 23rd. Throughout this time-period, the company the city has hired, Municipal Valuation Services, will be taking exterior photos of properties as well as inspecting the exterior and interior of residential and commercial properties throughout the City of Stamford. Company representatives will knock on resident taxpayer’s doors to ask project-related questions.

Case Numbers

Since last week, there have been 132 new Covid-19 cases in Stamford. This is down slightly from last week’s 147 new cases.

This week, vaccines are available at the following locations free without an appointment:

  • 137 Henry St. Mon. 8:30-4, Tue-Fri 8:30-3

  • Cove Island Park. Sat-Sun 10-4 (Closed 8/21)
  • Lathon Wider Community Center (137 Henry St). Sat, 8/21 12-4
  • Hunt Park (Stamford Dog Park) Mon-Sun 11-6
  • Jackie Robinson Park. Mon-Sun 11-6
  • Lione Park. Mon-Sun 11-6
  • Scalzi Park. Tues- Sun 8:30-4:30

Services

The state will begin paving High Ridge Road shortly. All work will be conducted overnight and is predicted to continue until early-mid September, weather depending. The following roads will be closed on August 22stnd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Main Street between Atlantic and Washington
  • West Park Place
  • Bank Street
  • Lower Summer Street will be closed to thru traffic. There will be officers to let people down the road going to the hotel or west park garage. All traffic going down lower summer will have to turn right onto Summer Place.

The Stamford Transportation, Traffic, & Parking Department has begun safety improvements at the intersection of Glenbrook and Scofield. Work will continue over the next week, weather depending.


Municipal Meetings

  • The next regularly scheduled Transportation Committee of the Board of Representatives meeting will take place on Thursday, August 19, at 7:00 p.m.
  • The next regularly scheduled State and Commerce Committee Meeting of the Board of Representatives will take place August 19, at 7:00 p.m.
