Stamford Partnership Celebrates Launch of ‘Room for All’ and Plans to Grow the Business Empowerment Initiative

On Wednesday, July 20 The Stamford Partnership held the inaugural Room for All (R4A) business development showcase in partnership with Isis-Rae Goulbourne founder of Stamford Events (@Stamford_Events). Designed to be inclusive and impactful, the event incorporated presentations, breakout sessions, and networking while targeting a broader demographic of early to mid-level entrepreneurs in the Stamford community.

Room for All is a program under the Start Lab initiative at The Stamford Partnership. Start Lab offers events, resources, and support for startups and entrepreneurs. Designed to build the knowledge, skills, and community that entrepreneurs need when launching and running a business. The team at Stamford Partnership plans to grow the event with an upcoming showcase featuring seven local business leaders on Wednesday, October 19th at The Palms in Stamford, Connecticut.

For the launch, organizers transformed The Palms nightclub into a professional, corporate-style venue that incorporated sounds of smooth jazz and conversation. The unconventional space was a hit and allowed for a less intimidating and more relaxed atmosphere. Room for All was designed to be “the room where it happens” and stimulate economic growth by improving access to the resources available to small-business owners and those who aspire to become self-employed. “When I pitched this idea to Jon Winkel at Stamford Partnership he was eager to collaborate. We really brought the community together, I am so proud to say that we delivered a powerhouse of free resources from top organizations, speakers, mentors, and more,” said Goulbourne.

The Stamford Partnership is Stamford's premiere civic organization and the collaboration led to Goulbourne joining The Stamford Partnership team as Head of Events and Community. Following the event, a representative from the City of Bridgeport expressed interest in bringing a similar style showcase to its business community.

The upcoming event will give attendees access to top-level representatives from Advance CT; The City of Stamford; Connecticut Small Business Development Center (SBDC); CT Next; Ferguson Library; SCORE Fairfield County; and the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC) will attend and share information and resources with attendees. In addition, guests from Stamford Downtown and the Office of the Mayor will be on-site. To register please visit the Room for All website roomforallevent.com

“We believe in the power of bringing people and ideas together,” said Winkel. He continued, “One of our priorities is to encourage lifelong learning opportunities so that all residents are able to contribute their skills, talents, and abilities to shape the future of Stamford. We create the roadmap of the future of Stamford by engaging our community in key policy areas and this is just one example of that”.
