Stamford EMS Earns Perfect Reaccreditation Score, Meeting Industry Gold Standard for 15th Year in a Row

This week, Stamford EMS was reaccredited with a perfect score by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). In the emergency medical service industry, CAAS accreditation, granted by their Commissioners, signifies that a EMS provider has met the ‘gold standard’ of patient care, attaining benchmarks that often exceed those established by state or local regulation.

The perfect score secures Stamford EMS’s accreditation with the top rating agency for 15 years in a row. Stamford EMS is one of only two EMS organizations in Connecticut that meets the strict CAAS standards, and the three-year accreditation is effective through 2025.

“Our perfect score is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of our team”, said Edward Browne, Stamford EMS Chief. “Stamford EMS remains steadfastly committed to delivering exceptional pre-hospital care and employing progressive, best practice emergency medical services.”

The reaccreditation process began with the completion of a rigorous application. CAAS evaluators then conducted a comprehensive on-site review of the Stamford EMS facilities including visitation, interviews and observation before recognizing the organization for its excellence.

The Stamford EMS perfect score was recorded across more than 100 areas including agency management, financial management, strategic planning, relations with outside agencies, disaster coordination, community education and relations, training, problem resolution, vehicles, equipment, facilities, communications/dispatch and more.

“This score once again confirms that we are meeting the highest standards of patient care, and we continue to stand ready to serve our community as one of the country’s leading emergency service organizations,” said Browne.

For over 30 years, Stamford EMS has kept pace with the increasing emergency medical care needs of the Stamford community. The Stamford EMS annual appeal is currently underway.  This local nonprofit works closely with other emergency services in the city of Stamford, but is an independent, private organization.
