Stamford Gets New Affordable Supportive Housing Units

A groundbreaking event was held in Stamford earlier this summer to celebrate the start of a new Pacific House affordable permanent supportive housing property. Located on Ann Street, the new property will create three apartments with permanent supportive housing for eleven formerly homeless individuals.

“These units serve as a testament to our unwavering dedication to provide accessible living options for individuals experiencing homelessness,” said Rafael Pagan, Jr., Pacific House Executive Director.

The property will join Pacific House’s growing portfolio of supportive housing units throughout lower Fairfield County. To date, the organization owns and operates 14 permanent supportive housing properties, housing over 140 formerly homeless individuals.

Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons was present at the ceremony, showing her support for affordable housing as the most effective approach to addressing homelessness.

“The goal here is to provide accessible living for individuals experiencing homelessness,” said Simmons.

For nearly forty years, Pacific House has been responding to the needs of men and young adults who struggle with homelessness in Fairfield County. The organization is an active community leader in the development of affordable permanent supportive housing.

“The only way to tackle homelessness is to provide affordable housing. We're providing people a chance to have a home, to be able to have one that they can afford, and for those that need it, we provide supportive services so they can succeed in being housed,” said Pagan.

Pacific House would like to thank those who contributed to funding the project especially the Connecticut Department of Housing and the City of Stamford.
