King School Welcomes New Head of School Dr. Karen E. Eshoo

The King School community is pleased to welcome Head of School Dr. Karen E. Eshoo to begin the 2018-2019 School year. “I am honored and humbled to begin this next chapter as Head of School at King,” says Dr. Eshoo. “I have found a School that shares my deepest values and passions, particularly for developing authentic academic excellence; fostering and supporting teaching that inspires curiosity and empowers students to make their place in the world; and preserving a school culture that respects childhood and adolescence, and that prioritizes character, kindness, and inclusion. I am so proud to be part of a school that is ahead of the curve in understanding what children need in order to become nimble thinkers; healthy people in mind, body and spirit; and active, respectful, passionate participants in their community – in short, the best versions of themselves.”

Dr. Eshoo came to King from the Vistamar School, a private, independent high school located in Los Angeles, where she served as Head of School for the past six years. In addition to her role at Vistamar, Dr. Eshoo has an additional 20 years of experience in teaching and leadership, having served as Assistant Head of School at Lick-Wilmerding High School, and as Principal of Grades 1-8 at Sacred Heart Schools, both in California. She has two Masters degrees from Stanford University, in Education and History and a Doctorate in Education from the University of California, Berkeley.

The entire King Community is looking forward to the official start of the 2018-2019 school year and beginning this new chapter in King’s history.
