Stamford EMS Elects New Officers To Board Of Directors

Stamford EMS, the non-profit EMS provider serving Stamford and Darien, announced today the appointment of six new officers to its Board of Directors. Joining the Board are Ellen Bromley, Daniel Dauplaise, Harold Gerwitz, M.D., Marta Hryniszyn, Matthew Maguire and Steven Tedesco.

As a nonprofit, the Board of Directors is the organization's policymaking body, responsible for Stamford EMS’s management and control, and now consists of 27 elected members. Board members can serve up to three years, and these new appointments are effective immediately.

“We’re excited to announce the addition of these accomplished community and industry leaders to Stamford EMS,” said Patricia Squires, Stamford EMS Chief and C.E.O. “Their guidance and expertise will be instrumental as we continue to advance our mission of delivering the highest quality emergency medical services available to the communities we serve.”

Ellen E. Bromley brings more than twenty-five years of experience with local government, including social services, housing, health, human rights and intergovernmental relations. Ms. Bromley has served in her current role as Social Services Director and Commission Coordinator for the City of Stamford since 2014. Prior to that, she served as Administrative Law Judge for the State of Connecticut and as an Associate Attorney for several private law firms. An active community member, Ms. Bromley has served on numerous area boards, and currently sits on the advisory board for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center.

Daniel D. Dauplaise is an employment and personal injury lawyer for Casper & de Toledo in Stamford, CT. Prior to this position, Mr. Dauplaise was a staff attorney at the International Institute of Connecticut and a litigation associate practicing federal wage and hour and employment law. As a Stamford native, Mr. Dauplaise brings seventeen years of experience in the Stamford emergency services community, having served for Volunteer Fire Service and as a volunteer EMT for Stamford EMS. He is excited to bring that point of view to the Board, and plans to participate in both the Personnel and the Governance Committees.

Harold Gewirtz, M.D. is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery and hand surgery. Originally from Burlington, VT, Dr. Gewirtz has maintained his practice in Stamford for thirty-two years, and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Greenwich Hospital and Stamford Hospital. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and has volunteered as a staff surgeon with Americares, traveling to Kuwait and Bosnia.

Marta H. Hryniszyn is Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager for The First Bank of Greenwich. A banking professional with over 15 years of experience within the financial services sector, she has held positions at KeyBank N.A., Wells Fargo Bank and Citizens Bank. Ms. Hryniszyn is a member of the advisory board for The First Bank of Greenwich, and founded the Women’s Leadership Network of Stamford, where she currently serves as President.

Matthew Q. Maguire is an experienced senior special agent in security for the Federal Government. With multiple awards honoring his excellence, Mr. Maguire has played a leadership role in the security operations for events throughout the world. Originally from Stamford, he has served our community as a volunteer emergency medical technician with Stamford EMS since 1999, and is joining the Board to advance his commitment to the organization.

Stephen Tedesco is Vice President of Commercial Lending and Business Development for Stamford Federal Credit Union. With 30 years of experience in new consumer, real estate, and commercial loans, Mr. Tedesco leads the firm’s commercial lending function. A lifelong Stamford resident, Stephen serves as Treasurer of the Greenwich Lions Club, and plans to participate in the Fundraising Committee of the Stamford EMS Board.

Stamford Emergency Medical Services, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization, and Connecticut’s only CAAS accredited EMS agency.  Responding to over 14,000 calls each year, the organization provides paramedic transport services for the city of Stamford, and provides contracted paramedic response to the town of Darien.
