Last night, the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame celebrated 25 years of putting women in the spotlight by holding an Induction Ceremony at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.
Among those honored was Stamford resident, Angelica Durrell who is the Founder and Executive Director of Stamford-based INTEMPO, a nonprofit music organization committed to bringing music to our community. An Ecuadorian-born violinist, educator, social entrepreneur, and artist ambassador for SpreadMusicNow, Angelica launched her company at the age of 21, following her graduation from the University of Connecticut.
The empowering evening featured the induction of three artists into the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame:
- Tony Award-winning actress, TV, film, and stage, Anika Noni Rose, who voiced the first black Disney princess in The Princess and the Frog.
- Co-Founder, Director, and benefactor of the American Ballet Theatre, whose vision and tenacity brought about a new, American style of ballet dancing, Lucia Chase.
The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame, founded in 1994, is an educational outreach organization whose mission is to honor publicly the achievement of Connecticut women, preserve their stories, educate the public and inspire the continued achievements of women and girls.
