Award Winning Children's Author Visits The Long Ridge School in Stamford

Award-winning author Gitty Daneshvari was a special guest at The Long Ridge School this week, Monday, November 19, to support the school’s visiting author program.  Daneshvari gave an engaging presentation in the school’s newly renovated school library, reading and signing copies of the first book from her SCHOOL OF FEAR series.  Her ‘laugh-inducing, phobia-reducing” book is about children conquering their fears.  The students at Long Ridge had a wonderful time hearing about the story, meeting the author and asking questions.

SCHOOL OF FEAR synopsis:

For the first time--maybe ever--Madeleine, Theo, Lulu, and Garrison are not looking forward to the start of summer, and three little words are to blame: School of Fear. In what they're sure will be the longest and most terrifying six weeks of their lives, the foursome must face their phobias head-on as students of the exclusive and elusive school. There's no homework or exams. But if they don't conquer their fears by the end of the summer, they'll find out just how frightening failing can be.

About the Author: Gitty Daneshvari was born in Los Angeles to an Iranian father and an American mother. As a child she talked incessantly, feeling the need to comment on everything around her. While at first charmed by her verbose nature, her family soon tired of the constant commenting. In need of an outlet for her thoughts, Gitty began writing and she hasn’t stopped since.  After mining her extensive, and we do mean extensive, list of childhood phobias (everything from spiders to alien invasions) in the SCHOOL OF FEAR series, Gitty decided to revisit the time she was rejected from her school’s Talented and Gifted program for being too average in THE LEAGUE OF UNEXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN series. Oh and in the middle, she spent a few years hanging out with the children of monsters (full disclosure: while her parents are weird, they are not technically monsters) with the MONSTER HIGH: GHOULFRIENDS series.  Gitty has sold over 5 million books worldwide.
