Stamford Board of Realtors Celebrates 100th Anniversary By Helping Community

On September 24,in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Stamford Board of Realtors®, the organization donated 100 ‘Cartons of Kindness’ to the neediest in our community. Members of the organization assembled cartons filled with everyday items and household necessities, then delivered them on their anniversary date to SilverSource and Inspirica for distribution to those who need them most.

Beauty and grooming products, toiletries, school supplies, baby care items and more were thoughtfully placed inside each box. The total value of the donation is estimated at $20,000.

Stamford Board of Realtors partnered with Stamford-based SilverSource and Inspirica to deliver the items to those in our community who are most in need. The SilverSource organization assists financially vulnerable seniors facing economic insecurity, and Inspirica helps homeless individuals and families. Both organizations provide comprehensive services to help clients achieve independence.

“For 100 years the Stamford Board of Realtors’ board has had a generous heritage of community service. This year we continue the tradition of giving back to our community through our ‘100 Cartons of Kindness’ initiative. We are proud to support these two outstanding organizations,” said Board President, Ken Fried.

Upon delivery of the cartons to SilverSource, Stamford Mayor David Martin stated, “Stamford is not as wealthy as some of our surrounding towns, but we’re wealthy in spirit, as noted by the generosity of this donation. Stamford is a strong community that supports good causes.”

“This is an innovative example of how an organization can help those that are unseen and in need,” said Kathleen Bordelon, Executive Director of SilverSource. “We applaud Stamford Board of Realtors for understanding that they can make a difference and encourage others to do so as well. The needs are great, and nonprofit organizations such as ours are the safety net.”
