Stamford EMS Fundraiser For New Ambulances Provides Indoor Halloween Fun

Heavy rains didn’t spoil the Halloween fun for Stamford EMS as they proudly presented their first annual Run For Your Life fundraiser on Sunday. The event raised funds for the nonprofit EMS provider to replace two ambulances and life-saving medical equipment that were damaged earlier this year in an electrical fire.

Held inside the Stamford Town Center, participants brought their costume ideas to life and went for a 3K walk through the mall. Representatives from Sephora provided make-up finishing touches and Stamford High cheerleaders brought extra-special sprit to the day.

Jon Kamal, on-air personality at 95.9 THE FOX, was a lively emcee, and Stamford Downtown District Commissioner George Boyce and former MLB baseball manager Bobby Valentine judged the costume contest. Valentine also served as the event’s Grand Marshal.

“They work in our community to save lives, they do incredible work 24 hours a day seven days a week, and it’s a nonprofit organization that’s worth our support,” said Valentine.

“We put together this fundraiser to help defray the costs of the ambulances we lost in March. We have insurance, but it does not cover the full costs,” said Patricia Squires, Stamford EMS Chief and CEO. “Participants not only supported Stamford EMS, they also supported the entire community.”

Winners of the costume contest include: Best Stroller: Grayson Villatoro of Stamford, Best Individual Costume: Xi Zhou, Most Original: the Anuba family, Best Group: the Tedescos, and Grand Marshal Favorite: Brady and Hunter Landry.

“I work as a nurse in the emergency room at Stamford Hospital,” said Nicole Landry. “Stamford EMS does so much for us we wanted to come out and support them.”

After the event participants extended the fun by joining an incredible Stamford Town Center Fall Festival. Complete with fall-themed games, activities, treats, music, live entertainment, and a special appearance by Anna Zap of Star 99.9, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
