Stamford EMS, the nonprofit emergency medical services organization that has served the city of Stamford for over 28 years, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc J. Kurzman as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Kurzman succeeds Lawrence Davidoff, who has served as board chair four times since 1994, and consecutively for the last 13 years.
"It’s been an honor to serve as board chair, and I’m extremely confident in Marc’s leadership as Stamford EMS remains committed to delivering exceptional prehospital care and employing progressive, best practice emergency medical services,” said Davidoff, who will remain on the board’s executive committee.
Marc Kurzman is a Partner at the Stamford-based law firm Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP, where he recently finished his term as co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Kurzman, a longtime Stamford resident, has a long history with emergency medicine, starting as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) while in college, and remaining a volunteer for nearly 15 years. Kurzman joined the Stamford EMS board in 2012, serving as legal counsel on its executive committee.
“The priority is and always will be the delivery of very high-quality emergency medical services to the community. That is one of the legacies of Larry, and first and foremost I’m going to regard my role as maintaining that,” said Kurzman. “We want to continue being on the cutting edge and our staff sets very high standards. Stamford EMS is a tremendous resource to the community.”
“Many people in the community don’t realize that Stamford EMS is not a city agency. We’re a completely independent nonprofit organization, and making sure that the community understands that and is supportive of us as a nonprofit will be an important aspect of my job,” said Kurzman.
