Today — October 1 — Stamford has 3,634 confirmed cases and 82 probable cases. Last week — September 24 — Stamford had 3,602 confirmed cases and 81 probable cases.

Community

Optimus Healthcare will be hosting two pop-up testing events in October, both from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue:

  • Friday, October 2
  • Friday, October 9

Community Health Centers and the City of Stamford will host a pop-up testing event on Tuesday, October 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Carwin Park, off Spruce Street.

State

Governor Ned Lamont announced the state plans to begin Phase 3 of Reopening on October 8. Phase 3 would include:

  • Increasing indoor capacity from 50% to 75% for restaurants, personal services, and libraries.
  • Outdoor event venues (amphitheaters, race tracks) increase from 25% to 50% capacity.
  • Indoor performing arts venues able to open at 50% capacity.
  • All reopening requires wearing masks and social distancing.
  • Governor Ned Lamont announced that his administration has launched a variety of new resources to support those who need to isolate or self-quarantine due to COVID-19.

Governor Ned Lamont announced that he is doubling funding for the previously announced Temporary Rental Housing Assistance Program (TRHAP) for Connecticut residents impacted by COVID-19 from $20 million to $40 million.

Governor Ned Lamont announced that he has submitted a request for a presidential major disaster declaration resulting from the damage caused by Tropical Storm Isaias in early August.

If approved, this declaration would assist state and local governments with costs of storm damage and clean-up.

Services & Schools

  • In an effort to provide transparent, accurate and timely information regarding cases of COVID-19 in schools, Stamford Public Schools (SPS) has posted a SPS COVID-19 Dashboard on the district website.
  • Stamford Public Schools will update this dashboard every Thursday.
  • The intersection of Washington Boulevard and Station Place will be closed for a utility project to install transmission towers.
  • Motorists should anticipate detours on Washington Boulevard beginning Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m. through to Saturday October 3.
  • The Household Hazardous Waste collection event at Westport on October 3rd is cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. If you have immediate hazardous waste disposal needs call:
