Stamford Reports 495 New COVID Cases in a Week

City of Stamford COVID-19 Updates, Testing, and City Road Work

Today — November 19 — Stamford has 5,214 confirmed cases and 287 probable cases. Last week — November 12 — Stamford had 4,719 confirmed cases and 231 probable cases. These numbers suggest Stamford has had 495 new cases in the past week, roughly 70 new cases per day on average. The City of Stamford has compiled a visualization of the data up to November 18.

COVID Testing 

The City of Stamford is partnering with Community Health Center to open an additional COVID-19 testing site at Scalzi Park.

  • Testing is available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please visit www.chc1.com for more information.

There are two upcoming pop-up testing events on Saturday, November 21:

    • From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First United Methodist Church (42 Cross Street) with Dr. Tabitha Fortt (insurance required).
    • From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westover School (412 Stillwater Avenue) with Optimus Health Care.

  • DOCS Urgent Care. 2001 West Main Street. Open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Open Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Schedule an appointment online or call 203.298.4600.
  • AFC Urgent Care. 3000 Summer Street. Open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schedule an appointment online or call 203.969.2000.
  • Community Health Center. 22 Fifth Street and Scalzi Park. Open every day, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schedule an appointment, call 203.323.8160.
  • CVS Health. 1928 W Main Street, 229 Hope Street and 969 High Ridge Road. Drive-thru testing. Schedule an appointment online.
  • Accessible Pharmacy. Offers in-home testing for blind, low vision, elderly, veteran, and disabled residents. Schedule an appointment online or call 215.799.9900.

Road Work

  • Starting on November 30th through December 14th the intersection of Weed Avenue and Route 1 will be reconstructed.
  • Access to Weed Avenue will be closed.
  • Local access to homes and businesses will be from the south end of Weed Avenue at Cove Road. Proper detour signs will be placed along the route ahead of time.
  • Updated information is available for the paving schedules:
  • Paving work to begin on Shippan Avenue at the Cummings Park access road.  
  • Milling in progress on Hope Street from Bouton Street to Woodway Road.
  • Milling in progress Woodway Road from Hope Street to Darien town line.
  • Milling in progress on Regent Court.
  • Milling in progress on Dorset Lane.

Municipal meetings:

  • Stamford’s Board of Representatives next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday, December 7 at 8 p.m.
  • Stamford’s Board of Finance next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, December 10 at 7 p.m.
  • Stamford’s Board of Education next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Tuesday, November 24 at 7 p.m.
