City of Stamford COVID-19 Updates: Case Numbers, Vaccine Rollout, Testing Sites, Schools and More

Case Numbers

Today — February 11 — Stamford has 12,298 confirmed cases. Last week —February 4 — Stamford had 11,971 confirmed cases. These numbers suggest Stamford has had 327 new cases in the past week, roughly 47 new cases per day on average. The City of Stamford has compiled a visualization of data up to February 9.

Vaccine rollout

The State of Connecticut is currently in Phase 1b of its vaccination rollout.

Starting today, Thursday, February 11, residents over 65 can begin scheduling vaccine appointments. Click here to sign up.

This phase includes:

  • Healthcare personnel,
  • Long-term care facility residents,
  • Medical first responders,
  • Individuals 65 and older,
  • Residents and staff of select congregate settings.

  • Did you schedule at Stamford Health? Stamford Health has a policy of calling every resident who has their appointment canceled by weather. If you have not been called, please call their phone assist line at 203.276.7300.
  • Did you schedule at a site other than Stamford Health? Please call 877.918.2224 (or "211" if you are in Connecticut) to reschedule.

  • Sema4. Located in Stamford High School’s Hillandale Avenue parking lot every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

State

Governor Ned Lamont announced he is directing Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol to be activated beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, and remaining in effect through at least 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, in what is anticipated to be a long-duration period of frigid weather.

The protocol sets up a system for state agencies and municipalities to coordinate with United Way 2-1-1 and Connecticut’s network of shelters to ensure that the most vulnerable populations receive protection from the severe conditions.

Governor Ned Lamont announced Connecticut residents over the age of 65 will be eligible to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments starting on Thursday, February 11, as the state rolls into the next part of phase 1b of its vaccination program. Vaccinations for individuals over the age of 75 and those within phase 1a will continue.

Services

Stamford’s Christmas Tree Pickup is ongoing. Residents are asked to keep their Christmas Trees curbside for City crews to pick up.

  • City crews performing Christmas Tree Pickup also perform snow removal. Christmas Tree Pickup has been delayed due to the Winter Storms.

Schools

  • All Grab & Go meal locations will be closed on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15. Children 18 years and younger may pick up four breakfast and four lunch meals. All Grab and Go sites will operate on their regular schedule on Wednesday, February 17.

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that students from all three of the district’s high schools were recently recognized for their outstanding submissions in the 2021 Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. The students are:

Events

  • Stamford Downtown is accepting proposals for its upcoming outdoor art exhibit, the Piano Project, Art in Public Places in Stamford Downtown.
  • The Piano Project is an interactive exhibit that will bring both art and music to the streets of Stamford Downtown. Artists, through a juried selection process, will paint and decorate upright pianos that will be on display all summer for the public to interact and play.
  • This is the last week to apply. Application deadline is Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
  • Stamford Downtown is partnering with the Stamford Symphony and The Palace to present a free music performance on Saturday, February 13 at 6:30 pm in The Palace Café.
  • The concert can also be viewed and heard from the sidewalk outside The Palace Theatre at 61 Atlantic Street.
  • Stamford Downtown and Stamford Tables present 2021 Winter Restaurant Weeks, begins Monday, February 15 and continues through Sunday, February 28.

  • Board of Assessment appeal hearings for the 2020 Grand List and the 2019 Motor Vehicle Supplemental List will be conducted remotely in March 2021.
  • Applications will be accepted if filed and received by the Assessor’s office by February 19 at 4:30 p.m.
