Italian Center of Stamford Awards Scholarships to Local High School Students

The Italian Center of Stamford (IC) announced that it has awarded Italian Language Scholarships to local high school seniors for proficiency in the study of the Italian language. A total of $10,000 was awarded to Madison Panapada from Stamford High School and Mariceleste Florian Rodriguez from Westhill High School.

The IC, in conjunction with The Captain’s Memorial Foundation, raises money for local college-bound students. The Captain’s Memorial Foundation was established in memory of Joseph Richichi, a former board member of the IC.

“We are excited to award these well-deserved scholarships to these extraordinary students,” said Jon Hoch, Executive Director. “This is just one of the many ways that the IC gives back to our community.”

The IC has been awarding annual scholarships for the past 27 years. Recipients were recommended by their Italian language teachers based on their academic achievement.

The IC is a non-profit organization.
