Stamford Mayor Gun Violence Awareness Day Proclamation

GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS DAY

This morning, I joined faith leaders and community activists to present a proclamation in recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Day. No community is immune to these types of tragedies and it’s unacceptable that 327 are shot every day in the United States.

In Connecticut, we’ve taken steps to strengthen our gun laws, enacting common-sense measures like requiring background checks, safe storage in homes and motor vehicles, banning ghost guns and bump stocks, and Red Flag laws. But we still have so much work to do and I’m grateful for the advocacy and leadership of activists and residents who use their voices to say #EnoughIsEnough.
