The Mayor's Gallery in Stamford presents Erin Nazzaro The Vibrant Colors of Life

The Mayor’s Gallery presents Erin Nazzaro: “The Vibrant Colors of Life”, Paintings of the American Southwest May 2 – June 29, 2018 (10th floor Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd, Stamford).

Open weekdays 9am – 4pm  (handicapped-accessible and on-site parking).

Erin Nazzaro was born and raised in Connecticut and continues to live there. Her early work was done exclusively with graphite. She says, “Working in pencil I slowly learned to develop and refine my images. I learned to see.”

Erin’s evolution from drawing to painting began in the 1980’s. “Color was a new beginning…it changed everything.” Erin’s color sense is magnificent and her paintings are masterfully rendered in high color with incredible contrast.

Visits to the American Southwest and all of the Americas influenced her work. The vibrant images of the people, and the land on which they live and work piqued her color sensibility. “The swirling bright colors in these countries are so integrated into the landscapes, fabrics, dress and folk art. My work has been driven by this energy.”

A major element of Erin’s work is the common man and the simple, hard lives they live. She tries to convey their honesty and show their great dignity. Another important element of her work are the animals; horses, cattle, goats and chicken. She uses drips and drops and layer upon layer of color to express her belief in their majesty and to their importance to the land and the people that work the land around this world.

This is a not to be missed exhibit of an artist’s first-hand account and tribute to the rich culture and people of our country’s magnificent Southwest.
