Legendary Chef Peter Chang Brings Chinese and Szechuan Cuisine to Stamford

Craving real Chinese and Szechuan cuisine in Stamford?  Good news!  Legendary Chef Peter Chang is proud to be opening Peter Chang Stamford (230 Tresser Blvd. H004, Stamford Town Center, Stamford, CT 06901; 203.323.7117; www.peterchangct.com), bringing his authentic Szechuan cuisine to Connecticut for the very first time.  Having established Peter Chang as a family restaurant concept in 2011 and growing his intimate restaurant empire to eleven locations throughout Virginia and Maryland, Chang is excited to be entering a new marketplace on the Long Island Sound.

Known as a master of Chinese cuisine, as well as for his disappearances and reappearances, which have kept his loyal fans captivated by his next move, Chang creates signature Szechuan dishes, including Fermented Bean Paste Beef Tenderloin ($32) with asparagus and dill; Dry Fried Eggplant ($11); and Furong Chicken Hot Pot ($19) with tomato, wood-ear mushroom, beech mushroom and snowpea, among others.  While Peter Chang’s family of restaurants continues to grow, his quest for quality remains the same with cuisine comprised of only the finest and freshest ingredients.

Peter Chang Stamford’s menu begins with Dim Sum, including Vegetable Dumpling ($7) – served steamed or pan-fried; and Chicken Broth Soup Dumpling ($10). Scallion Bubble Pancake ($4); Xi’an Style Lamb Youpo Noodle ($12); and Shredded Tofu Skin ($8), are always great starters.  Chang’s authentic, flavorful soups range from Duck Tofu Soup ($8) to Vegan “Lionhead” Soup ($10).  Diners can also opt to share hot appetizers, such as delectable Peking Duck (half $30; whole $58); Crispy Pork Belly ($11) and Bamboo Style Baby Shrimp ($12).

Main courses with bold and vibrant-flavors offer something for everyone with seafood, pork, beef and vegetable dishes, including Boneless Whole Fish ($22); Seafood Stone Pot ($20) with Chinese yam, beech mushroom and basil; Kung Pao Chicken ($17) with peanut; and Mongolian Beef ($18) with scallion and onion.  Rice & Noodles are the perfect accompaniments and great to share, such as Vegetable Lo Mein ($10) and Egg & Scallion Fried Rice ($10), with the option to add shrimp, chicken or beef ($4 each; $8 combo).  Vegetables include spicy Mapo Tofu ($16) and Stir-Fred Cabbage on Hot Iron Plate ($15).  For dessert, Fresh Cream Fruit Mochi ($7) and Red Bean Pumpkin Cake ($5) are ideal sweet endings.  Peter Chang Stamford offers a full bar menu, plus beer and wine ($TBD)

Located in the Stamford Town Center, the restaurant space (approximately 175 seats, including 10 at the bar and 16 on the patio), is modern, yet minimalistic allowing Chang’s menu to take center stage.  Seating includes moveable tables, booths and large round tables, perfect for sharing family-style meals.

Peter Chang will be open every day for lunch and dinner.  For more information, visit www.peterchangct.com
