Invisible Author Stephen L. Carter Visits Ferguson Library on Oct. 28

Bestselling author Stephen L. Carter will visit Ferguson Library on Sunday, October 28 to speak about his book "Invisible: The Forgotten Story of the Black Woman Lawyer Who Took Down America’s Most Powerful Mobster." The event begins at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and a book sale and signing will follow the talk.

In "Invisible," the author delves into his past and retrieves the inspiring story of his grandmother Eunice Hunton Carter's extraordinary life. In the 1930s, she was one of 20 high-powered lawyers aiming to take down Lucky Luciano, America's most powerful mobster. The strategy she devised put him behind bars.

A woman who often found her path blocked by the social and political expectations of the age, Eunice Carter never accepted defeat. Thanks to her grandson’s remarkable book, her long-forgotten story is once again visible.

The Ferguson Library's Main Library, DiMattia Building is located at One Public Library Plaza in Stamford, Conn. For more information, call (203) 351-8243.
