Why did you start your business?
I have worked simultaneously in Corporate America and the fitness arena. I have enjoyed teaching fitness classes and helping others reach their fitness goals for over twenty years, but never was the business owner. I incorporated massage in my wellness regime and realized that it allowed me to recover faster and reduce risk of injury from overuse and overtraining. With the support from family and friends, I got my license and found my passion…shortly thereafter I founded Total Advantage Massage. I knew I wanted to specialize in Sports Massage and be able to focus on injury rehab and injury prevention. I started my business because I saw a need for offering a specialized sport/specific massage to athletes who were overtraining and unable to compete, whether it was tennis, running or hockey. I believe that massage is another piece of the puzzle in their training that is overlooked and underrated.

I wish I could reach more people and educate them on the benefits of massage. We need to slow down, unplug and breathe! We need to take care of ourselves and our bodies and incorporate regular massage into our routine. It shouldn’t be a treat that we take care of ourselves once a year (or less). Massage is shown to relieve stress, reduce anxiety, improve cardiovascular health, promote relaxation, lowers blood pressure, helps us sleep better and that is just a start! So many things that we take medications for!
What is your best selling product/service?
My best service is a Sports Massage that is individualized and may incorporate Active Release Techniques, Cupping, Kinesiotaping, Craniosacral and/or Graston. I have worked with both AHL and NHL players, the WTA, Division 1 athletes and the USTF elite runners. I specialize in injury rehab and injury prevention and love to help my clients feel better and return to their sport a bit better, faster and stronger! Everyone can benefit from this work, whether you are an athlete or not.
