Edgehill Honors Group of Employees Who Counter National Staffing Trend

Edgehill, a Benchmark community in Stamford, Connecticut, hosted its annual Danziger Society Appreciation Dinner with a New England Lobster Bake. Currently, the society has 42 members, each holding a tenure of 15 or more years.

“It’s a great honor to know we have a team that wants to grow with the community,” said Chris Barstein, executive director at Edgehill. “Having the largest society in the Benchmark family is a great achievement and our employees are well-deserving.”

According to the most recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average employee tenure with a company is 4.2 years. Edgehill’s Danziger Society more than triples that statistic.

“In the senior living and caregiving industry, workforce shortages and turnover are one of the top challenges,” said Barstein. “Our associates are the heart and soul of our community, and it’s rewarding to work with a team of employees who make every day a pleasure and have for so many years.”

In 2015, Benchmark Senior Living Founder and CEO Tom Grape launched the Danziger Society, honoring Benchmark associates with 15 or more years of service. The society is named after Bob Danziger, who retired from the company board of directors in 2015 after serving as a member from the time Benchmark was founded in 1997.

In June 2017, Edgehill held its first annual Danziger Society Appreciation Dinner to welcome seven new associates. The tenure of all 42 Danziger members at Edgehill totals over 580 years! The Benchmark Danziger Society now has 259 members – Edgehill holds the title of having the largest society in Benchmark.

This year will mark 20 years for 12 members of the society, which means they’ve been with Edgehill since the opening of the community in 1999.
