Fairfield County, Connecticut - In the summer of 2019, LiveGirl and the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk (JLSN) formed a community partnership. The shared mission was to prepare high school women for leadership positions. The results have exceeded expectations.
LiveGirl Founder & CEO Sheri West explained, “This is such an incredible story about two female-based nonprofits coming together to ‘pay it forward’ to the next generation of female leaders.” West continued, “The new LiveGirl League program has exceeded expectations, with 30 pilot participants launching community impact projects ranging from sexual assault awareness to collecting hats for the homeless.”
JLSN President Elizabeth Kitts Catino stated, “Our members serve as ‘Confidence Coaches’ and mentor high school women.” Kitts Catino added, “Both mentors and mentees are profoundly impacted, as girls who have a mentor are 130% more likely to hold a leadership position.”
West added, “This program creates a powerful ripple effect, whereby we prepare confident leaders who then make a positive impact in their local communities.”
The LiveGirl League is currently offered in two locations (UConn-Stamford, New Canaan) and will expand in fall 2020. For more information, visit www.goLiveGirl.org/livegirl-league.
