Why Small Businesses Matter Reimagined

Small businesses matter - now more than ever. They are answering the call with innovation and determination like never before.

We hope you join us in supporting them by sharing their story far and wide and shopping local! We are thankful to Fairfield County Bank for their continued support and making this series possible.

Step inside The Art of Control

Three questions with Simona Cipriani, founder of The Art of Control.

What do you want the community to know? Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?

Even though we are all tempted to stay in lockdown, we know that we need to try to support each other --and support local businesses--as much as we can. We so appreciate clients--both our loyal ones and new ones we haven't yet met!--supporting our business at this time. Clients can take sessions with us in our studio, online, or support us in other ways, such as purchasing gift certificates, purchasing online streaming videos and DVDs. We are also a Pilates teacher training and certification program, and we've had students who are interested in becoming teachers securing their spaces in our upcoming programs. All of these products and services are on our website: www.artofcontrol.com.

Are you offering any new products or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

Yes! When the pandemic first started, we had to get creative. We started offering classes online, then expanded to offer private sessions online. They've been a huge hit, and our clients (and even new clients from around the country!) have found they could get individualized, quality instruction from us, even from miles away. Now we are back in the studio, offering in-person sessions again, but we've kept up the online sessions as well. We're hoping that clients can find everything they need with us through these approaches.

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

We have made huge changes in the way our studio is set up. We schedule clients to come in at times where they won't encounter other clients while coming and going. We've reconfigured our equipment to maintain social distancing--so clients are not working out near each other. And of course, we maintain strict cleaning and disinfecting protocols. We've also started selling foot straps to clients, so they can have their own, which they bring to their individual sessions. We are now requiring all clients to bring their own towels and wear socks; but when our clients buy certain packages, we give them all of these items. We're just trying to keep everyone safe while enjoying a fun, productive workout!
