Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

You're IT Natalie Rose Cakes!

Three questions with Natalie Dionisio, founder of Natalie Rose Cakes.

Why did you start your business?

My first job was at a bakery at the age of 14. From the moment I walked in the front door I knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I continued to work at different bakeries and graduated with top awards from The Institute of Culinary Education. While in school I realized my true passion, cake decorating. At the age of 26, I made my dream a reality. I am the proud owner of Natalie Rose Cakes.

What is your best-selling product/service?

We specialize in custom cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and more. I also instruct decorating classes and parties. Hard to pinpoint 1 dessert, I would say it's all in the icing. We use swiss meringue, which is incredibly light and airy, yet rich and buttery melt in your mouth.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

My vision was to always be a small boutique, I always loved the idea of a mom-and-pop shop. In the near future, there will be a larger location to offer more classes and parties for decorating! Currently, I am building a returning customer base while attending many local events to really get our business out there.

Natalie would love to nominate Fortina as her favorite restaurant in Stamford!
