Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Daisy by Swän-ˈyā!

Four questions with K. Kristopher Kimbrew from Daisy by Swän-ˈyā.

Why did you start your business?

Daisy by Swän-´yā is a personal restaurant-style dining service that helps its clients craft unique and elevated food/beverage service experiences at home. I started my business to give both the guest and the service professionals serving the meal more control over the dining experience. To create long-term sustainable and new opportunities for service industry professionals.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We only use services and/or products within a 15-mile radius of the home of the clients we serve. These purveyors are primarily decided by our clients. Yet, our goal is to always buy local and to only purchase products/services from other businesses that align with our core values, mission, and vision. “Global Impact by Keeping it Local.”

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

While we have had to pivot to meet the needs of our clients during the pandemic, we are proud to have already been ahead of the curve of change that we knew would eventually take place. We created additional services and even more innovative ways to connect with our clients. Everything from online series to instructional videos we reimagined the way we would conduct our business moving forward.

K. Kristopher would like to nominate Zaza Gastrobar - They are my favorite place to dine in Stamford and I would love for them to get some new buzz!"
