Why Small Businesses Matter in Stamford: Flinders Lane Kitchen & Bar

Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Flinders Lane Kitchen & Bar!

Four questions with Chris McPherson, founder of Flinders Lane Kitchen & Bar.

Why did you start your business?

I'm originally from Australia and when I came to the US in 2006 the only 'Australian' restaurant was Outback which I felt didn't do justice to the cultural Australian hospitality options back home. I met another Australian working in restaurants in Manhattan and we created Flinders Lane taking inspiration from our hometown of Melbourne. We opened Flinders Lane NYC in 2014 and Stamford in 2017.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our cocktails are absolutely delicious and sell very well. The El Diablo and Watermelon Smash are the current best sellers! Foodwise, the Alaskan King Crab Legs we serve have been very popular lately, particularly with the warmer weather.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We use local products and suppliers for food and drink. We love the guys at New Wave Seafood, their product is amazing and they have a retail outlet too. We cycle through local breweries, Two Roads, Half Full, Athletic Brewing Company.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

a consistent part of hospitality is to keep your offering fresh and interesting. Operationally, the industry had to pivot during Covid, taking on a delivery focus - this is all part of the challenge of being in restaurants!

Chris would like to nominate the Cask Republic to be featured next!
