Italian Center of Stamford Unveils State-of-the-Art Pickleball Courts

The Italian Center of Stamford (the IC) announced today that it has built four brand new state-of-the-art pickleball courts for members and their guests. The courts were built to meet the demand for this fast-growing sport.

“We are delighted to announce the unveiling of our new pickleball courts,” said Jon Hoch, Executive Director. “We are one of the first private community club in the Stamford area with their own dedicated pickleball courts. This is just one of the many exciting activities that we offer to our members.”

“Pickleball is America’s fastest growing sport and there has been a huge demand for a place to play in the area,” said Brian Wright, IC Athletic Director and Pickleball Pro. “Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced sport that draws players of all ages.”

Pickleball is a paddleball sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball (like a wiffle ball) over a net.

Members may book the pickleball courts using the court reservation system. Private lessons, clinics and drop-in play are also offered for members and the community. The IC plans to add lights so that play can continue into the evening hours.
