Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Meal JOY!

Three questions with Sergio Labrosciano, founder of Meal JOY.

Why did you start your business?

Meal JOY started as an idea to help others by providing them with already-prepared meals. I finally started taking better care of myself, becoming more mindful of the food I was eating daily. I started exercising – and with that came a shift in my diet. I started “meal prepping” so that I would have my healthy, home-cooked meals ready to go in containers. This helped me stay consistent with my food choices, and I knew just about every ingredient that I was consuming. I grew confident with my fitness, my eating, and ultimately with the results, I was getting.

Together with my culinary background, I knew I could be a difference maker, by providing a service to others with busy lifestyles, that were constantly on the go! I wanted to make meal prep easy, fun, and enJOYable, so that people could go out there and sustainably crush their daily activities.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our service is very straightforward. We offer meal packs, which simply allow you to choose how many meals you would like for the week (4, 6, 7, 10, 12, 15, etc.). Our subscription service is very popular, but it is not required. You can place a one-time order and are free to come and go as you’d like.

Our menu selections change each week, and we give you the ability to choose your meals. Orders must be placed on our website by Thursday midnight for guaranteed Sunday delivery. A pickup option is also made available, on High Ridge Road right here in Stamford, CT!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Working with local businesses is something we try to do as often as we can. Whether it is using a local bakery to give out complimentary treats on the holidays, or connecting with local gyms and studios to bring our product and service to the surface. We also have and love to contribute to our local food bank- the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.

With our success and growth over the past couple of years, Meal JOY is finally ready to work with and support other local farms and agricultural services. Follow us on Instagram @bymealjoy to stay updated on all of our current news, partnerships, and collaborations.

Sergio would like to nominate MADabolic to be featured next - "Since we like to promote health, we would like to nominate MADabolic Stamford, locally owned by one of our residents!"
