Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Bella's Sweet Treats!

Three questions with Alison Arita, founder of Bella's Sweet Treats

Why did you start your business?

To provide busy local families and businesses with the seamless, concierge experience of having their baker.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Party Package (Custom Cake and Sugar Cookies)!

As Head Baker, I (Alison) will consult directly with each client to confirm all event sweet treat needs and details. Send me your custom party theme, Pinterest pics, or ambitious kids' wishes and I will send you a sketch of the unique creations I will make for them. Don't waste time or money on cheap party favors. Custom sugar cookies can be decorated to match a theme or our edible printer can print an actual picture! We can add a personalized message or note and individually wrap it so your guests can take home a custom memory of your event. On-site delivery adds a final touch of convenience.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I’m so grateful for the local partners and supporters that have helped us grow. I’m set up at the Stamford Nature Center Farmers' Market June-October Sundays from 10-2. We will continue to partner with events at Designs By Lee.
