Stamford EMS: Standing By For Our Safety

The high school football season is underway, and while fans watch the Stamford High Black Knights or the Westhill High Vikings compete against their opponents, there is another team keeping watch both on and off the field.

Stamford Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the city’s contracted nonprofit EMS provider, attends every city high school varsity football game, providing exceptional medical standby services to keep participants and spectators safe.

“In an emergency, seconds count,” said Patricia Squires, Stamford EMS Chief and C.E.O.   “Having Stamford EMS stationed on-site at an event provides immediate access to one of the best trained EMS teams in the country,”

Stamford EMS provides event standby services throughout the year at athletic events, parades, road races, community festivals and other large crowd gatherings such as the Alive@5 concerts.  Stamford businesses and organizations often contract Stamford EMS for their events to ensure immediate access to the best prehospital care available.

This year alone, Stamford EMS has provided standby and special event coverage at 40 area events.  On-site prehospital care ranges from minor concerns, such as blisters and minor burns, to major medical or traumatic events.

“We want our citizens to know that we’re on hand for their safety, and we have many resources for special event coverage, including experienced EMTs and Paramedics, reserve ambulances, specialized vehicles and equipment,” said Squires.
