Stamford Police Notice Rise in Suicide Attempts, Report Female on Ledge of Bridge on I-95

Stamford Police have reported that early this morning, May 16, they responded to the I-95 overpass on East Main Street on the report of a woman attempting to jump off the bridge.

Police report that they arrived to find a 30-year-old female on the small ledge of the bridge contemplating jumping. The Connecticut State Police responded and closed traffic I-95 northbound while Officer Michael Dube was able to talk the woman back over the railing.

The woman was brought to Stamford Hospital for treatment, Police say.

The Stamford Police Department has noticed a rise in calls dealing with people in crisis.

"Thankfully due to Officer Dube’s efforts this one worked out well," police say.

The Department asks residents to reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline if they know someone who is in need of help.
